The whole family seems to be enjoying Pickle's birthday present. Sunday night we were able to talk dad into trying out the bowling. Whether he's really just good or was having beginner's luck he ended up getting either spares or strikes his first five frames. On frame seven the score was 133-65 in dad's favor. Mom was able to close the gap though and made 5 straight strikes after that to make the final frames a real nail-bitter. Dad ended up holding on to his lead and finished with a 159-155 victory.

What we were all surprised to see coming from dad, especially since he'd never held a Wii remote in his life. I guess we did get a little of our athleticism from our paternal side.

Tulip Festival

After the temptation to be a pansy and not enter the tulip festival I am really pleased I allowed myself to be persuaded to enter. After failed attempts at getting discounts--coupons, 40% off due to lack of blooms, group rates, lack of Michael--we all paid our 10 bucks and moved in. Surprisingly the flowers were much more exciting inside the gates than outside. Here a few of the pics I captured while strolling along the sidewalks.
